COIL-VE PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS
Personal Branding
Imagine you are a hiring manager – what would you need to know of a prospective employee before you felt ready to hire them? What skills, values, and experiences would they need to demonstrate to show they are a good fit with your team? Creating your personal brand helps you in approaching future employers and understanding what type of jobs and companies you would want to work for in our increasingly connected global environments.
In this project, you will draw on provided activities and links to create your personal brand. You are welcome to also read any other material you find useful for completing this assignment. The goal is to understand yourself and how to build your own brand, and the project outcome is to demonstrate your chosen personal brand example. Once again, put yourself in a prospective employer’s place. Remember that your target audience is usually extremely busy and will glance through quickly.
You will demonstrate your understanding of personal branding in a creative way: 1) by developing a WIX or WIKI page presentation to showcase your project, and 2) by actually presenting your group project to the wider class. Imagine you are consultants for a company, helping them identify an ideal potential candidate to join their team. Create the personal brand package for either a member of your group, a hypothetical client, or choose an existing famous personality. Include everything that may be needed to create and manage a favourable business impression, i.e. in this 10-min presentation, show an understanding of shared values between the company and prospective hire, company's needs and candidate's skills, etc.
Student groups will present and receive feedback from the peers within the group as well as from the larger class.
Have fun together too!
